From early morning, at the center of Giang B village, delegates and people witnessed the procession. Leading the procession was the main offering tray of the Commune People's Committee, followed by offerings trays of the village and hamlet - each tray was prepared with the freshest local products. All expressed the people's respect to heaven, earth and the tea god - the god that the Mong people believe has protected, blessed and given good crops throughout the past year.

In a solemn prayer, village elder Giang A Dang, on behalf of the Mong community in Suoi Giang, thanked heaven and earth and prayed for favorable weather, good crops, and a prosperous life.

The ceremony reenacts the journey of establishing villages of the Mong people in the high mountains of Suoi Giang, closely associated with the ancient Shan Tuyet tea tree - a tea species identified by scientists as one of the important ancestors of tea varieties worldwide.

Currently, Suoi Giang has more than 500 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, of which about 400 trees from 100 to 300 years old have been recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees. Tea trees not only have cultural value but also create sustainable livelihoods, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for the Mong community here.

The ceremony to honor the ancestral tea tree is an occasion to affirm the close bond between people and nature, and is also an important cultural highlight in the journey to build Suoi Giang into a unique cultural and ecological tourist destination of Lao Cai.
