Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association and Comrade Do Thi Thu Hang - Member of Standing Committee, Head of Professional Department of Vietnam Journalists Association chaired the press conference.

In the summary report of the 18th National Press Awards - 2023, comrade Do Thi Thu Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that the 18th National Press Awards - 2023 received positive responses from all levels of the Association and individual journalists and members; attracted the participation of 18/21 Inter-Association Branches and 30/223 affiliated Branches, especially 63/63 Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations, with 1,905 works submitted (the highest number ever), of which 1,827 works met the requirements according to regulations.

"The special thing is that there are 127 works whose authors are not members of the Vietnam Journalists Association, showing the strong attraction of the 18th National Press Award and the strong interest and response of members and all levels of the Journalists Association nationwide," emphasized comrade Do Thi Thu Hang.

Comrade Do Thi Thu Hang reported on the summary of the 18th National Press Awards.

Of the 1,827 entries in 11 categories, the Preliminary Council unanimously selected 165 entries for the final round - 3 entries more than last year. And from the 165 entries for the final round, the Final Council discussed, evaluated, voted and unanimously awarded the 18th National Press Awards to 122 entries, including 10 A prizes, 26 B prizes, 45 C prizes and 41 Encouragement prizes.

Assessing the quality of the season, the Head of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that in general, the works participating in this year's Awards are of good quality. Most of the works are close to reality, highly topical, and address hot spots in 2023 in the fields of politics , economics, society, national security and defense, Party building, etc.

Many works are carefully invested, with content that discovers new issues, criticizes major policies and guidelines of the Party and State; proposes many creative solutions and good ways of doing things that have a widespread and influential influence in society.

According to the Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association, in its 18th year, the prestige of the National Press Award has been firmly affirmed, the value of the award has been widely spread throughout all levels of the Association and its members. Many large Associations and Associations still maintain the quality of their entries such as: Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam , Vietnam News Agency, Communist Magazine, Ministry of Public Security, Military Press, Central Youth Union Press, Vietnam Farmers' Association, Labor Newspaper, etc.

In addition, many provincial Journalists Associations have invested in the selection and improvement of the quality of works submitted to the Award, such as: Hanoi Journalists Association, Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Yen Bai, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Long, Binh Duong, Thai Binh... In particular, the Magazine sector has developed, when the Labor & Trade Union Magazine won the C prize of the National Press Award for the first time.

Regarding the 18th Award Ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that as usual, the Award Ceremony will be held on the evening of Friday, June 21, 2024 at the ICE International Exhibition Center - Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace (91 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

However, this year's award ceremony will be held outside, in a large space with a capacity of up to 1,000 seats. Attending and presenting the awards are leaders of the Party and State, in addition, the Vietnam Journalists Association will invite many members of the Party Central Committee, Ministers and leaders of provinces and cities across the country.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi said that this year's Award Ceremony will be organized in a way that is innovative in content and method to honor authors with outstanding works that win the Award. The Award Ceremony will demonstrate solemnity, have profound political and social significance, and have a strong influence in the press and the whole society; and have the effect of gathering and uniting a large number of reporters and journalists working in press agencies and Journalists Associations at all levels nationwide.

"Art programs will be organized with lighting and sound techniques, creating special attraction, and the honored journalists will be the center of the Award Ceremony," informed comrade Nguyen Duc Loi.

According to the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Organizing Committee has developed a framework script, reportage content and script, prepared the Cup, Medal, Certificate and Prize money (which will be transferred to the representative of the author/group of authors).

Vietnam Television has arranged a live broadcast schedule and organized a live broadcast from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on June 21. Voice of Vietnam organized a live radio broadcast.
