The 22kV submarine cable line supplying electricity to Ly Son special economic zone (Quang Ngai) is an important infrastructure project, playing a special role in ensuring energy security, serving socio-economic development, maintaining security and national defense, and contributing to protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Due to the impact of storm No. 13, large waves caused landslides, exposing the area at the beginning of the cross-sea cable line, a section in Thanh Thuy village, Van Tuong commune, about 60m long. Large waves washed away the ground, knocked down the warning post and caused the 22kV underground cable line to rise above the sand surface. Notably, the underground cable is still conducting electricity, so the potential risk of causing a safety hazard is very high.
Immediately after discovering the incident, the People's Committee of Van Tuong commune coordinated with the Dung Quat General Electricity Management Team and the Binh Son Electricity Management Team to patrol, put up warning ropes, and put up danger warning signs in this area. At the same time, strictly handle violations of the cable line safety corridor such as anchoring boats, building huts, planting stakes, illegally exploiting seafood, and illegally mining sand.
