
The men's football event of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand starts on December 3, and the final match for the gold medal is on December 18.
After Cambodia U22 withdrew from men's football, the 33rd SEA Games organizing committee announced the new schedule and group structure. The competition time remains the same, taking place from December 3 to December 18.
According to the adjustment, U22 Singapore was moved from group C to group A to replace Cambodia. Thus, all three groups of men's football have 3 teams left.
Group A includes Thailand, Timor Leste and Singapore. Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos are in Group B. Group C includes Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.
According to the schedule, U22 Vietnam will play the opening match at 4pm on December 3, against U22 Laos. The decisive match between coach Kim Sang-sik and U22 Malaysia will take place at 4pm on December 11.
After the group stage, the three group winners and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals (December 15). The final match is scheduled for December 18.
U22 Indonesia is the current SEA Games champion. According to experts, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam continue to be the three bright candidates for the 33rd SEA Games gold medal.
At the most recent SEA Games, U22 Vietnam won the bronze medal.
