
Vietnam will compete in Makruk chess at SEA Games 33
The matches of this intellectual sport will take place at Bazzar Hotel, Bangkok capital with 8 competitions lasting 10 days.
The competition period runs from December 10 to 19 at 3pm, with a day off in between on December 14. The tournament has a total of 8 events, with the number of players ranging from 2 to 5 people in each team.
The opening event for the chess event will be Makruk, a challenge for Vietnamese players. On December 10, the 3-person men's Makruk event will officially begin.
Next, the 11th, 12th and 13th of December will see the 5-man mixed Makruk standard chess, with qualifying rounds taking place on the first two days, followed by semi-finals and finals on the last day.
After the break, the tournament will continue with the rapid and standard chess events. On December 15, there will be a qualifying round for the Makruk standard chess for men's teams of 2, along with the ASEAN rapid chess for men's teams of 4 and the ASEAN rapid chess for women's teams of 4.
The semi-finals and finals of the ASEAN men's rapid chess and ASEAN women's rapid chess will take place on December 16, while the semi-finals and finals of the men's Makruk standard chess team of 2 will begin on December 17.
The final stage of the tournament will focus on Makruk rapid and regular rapid events. On December 18, the qualifying rounds for Makruk rapid for men's teams of 4, men's rapid for men's teams of 2 and women's rapid for women's teams of 2 will take place.
On the final day of competition (December 19), the players will enter the semi-finals and finals of the three events above.
The Vietnamese chess team set a modest target of 2 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games , although this year's chess competition has a total of 8 gold medals. This target was built on the basis of reality when at the previous 32nd SEA Games, we won 2 gold medals in the Ouk Chaktrang Chess event.
