British media pointed out that in the 2023/24 pre-season training period, Premier League clubs must play at least 64 friendly matches in 15 countries within 26 days. The total distance the teams must travel is about 274,000 km.
"The schedule is crazy. At club level, we used to play three games a week for months on end. It's harder for the players but we don't have the final say. A lot of managers have to say it. If one team plays 60 games in a season and another team only plays 38, the team that plays more will need more time to recover," Rashford said.

Rashford played 56 games in all competitions for Man Utd in the 2022/23 season, making him one of the Red Devils' most prolific players. Rashford's teammate Bruno Fernandes also played 70 games for Man Utd and Portugal last season, an achievement unmatched by any of Europe's top five leagues.
This summer, Man Utd will tour the US for the first time in five years. The "Red Devils" will face Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. The final match of the pre-season training period will take place on August 6 against Athletic Bilbao.
British media are concerned that the expansion of the FIFA Club World Cup from 7 to 32 teams will exhaust players because of too many matches. The new FIFA Club World Cup will be held in the US in 2025. Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea are the first 3 European clubs to qualify for the tournament. With FIFA expanding the number of teams participating in the Club World Cup, Europe will have 12 places to participate.
