Schedule for the quarter-finals of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship

Following the final matches of Group D on the evening of January 14th, the 2026 AFC U23 Championship has determined the four quarter-final matches.

The quarter-finals of the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Championship will take place on January 16th and 17th. On January 16th, two matches will be played: Japan U23 vs. Jordan (6:30 PM) and Vietnam U23 vs. UAE U23 (10:30 PM). The remaining two matches will be played on January 17th: Uzbekistan U23 vs. China and Australia vs. South Korea.

Among the quarter-final matches, the clash between U23 Australia and South Korea deserves to be called a "major battle" because both teams are top contenders for the championship.

In their first appearance in the quarter-finals of the AFC U23 Asian Cup, China's U23 team will face a formidable opponent in Uzbekistan.

Japan U23 – the team currently having the most convincing performance at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship – will face Jordan. Theoretically, Japan U23 is considered the much stronger team, but the team from the Land of the Rising Sun needs to be extremely cautious because Jordan U23 is playing increasingly well.

However, all the attention of Vietnamese football fans will be focused on the U23 Vietnam vs. UAE match. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team is showing impressive form at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship. Therefore, fans are hoping that U23 Vietnam can defeat UAE to advance to the semi-finals.
