According to the 2026 Summer-Autumn crop planting schedule of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, localities will organize concentrated sowing from the end of May to June, in accordance with each production area and water resource conditions. The agricultural sector also recommends using short-day, high-quality rice varieties to ensure production safety and minimize damage from drought and late-season floods.

For the eastern region of Quang Ngai , the main rice crop will be sown from May 25th to June 5th, 2026, for varieties with a growth period of 95 to under 105 days. The late rice crop will be sown from June 6th to June 10th, 2026, for varieties with a growth period of less than 95 days, in order to harvest before the rainy season. The main rice varieties recommended for production continue to include Bac Thinh, Ha Phat 3, VNR20, TBR97, HG12, HG244, QNg13, Thien Huong 6, and DB18. In addition, the agricultural sector has also included many promising varieties such as QNg128, Dai Thom 8, QC11, Huong Xuan, and VNR98 in the crop structure.
According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station, from May to July this year, the average temperature across the province is likely to be 0.2 to 1.2 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average. The eastern part of the province is forecast to continue experiencing several heatwaves with increasing intensity. Meanwhile, water levels in many reservoirs in the delta region may decrease rapidly if the heatwave persists, increasing the risk of water shortages, drought, and saltwater intrusion at the end of the summer-autumn crop season.
