"A major reform of the badminton tournament system from 2027," the BWF announced, with promising details regarding prize money, organizational structure, live television coverage, and more for tournaments on the BWF Tour.
These reforms were introduced after the BWF reached a long-term agreement, extending to 2034, with its television and commercial partner, Infront.
Under the new framework, the number of matches broadcast live will more than double, from 1,410 to approximately 3,000 across all BWF tournaments.
The focus of the changes is the overhaul of the BWF World Badminton Tournament, with 36 tournaments organized into a six-tier structure: World Tour Finals, five Super 1000 tournaments, five Super 750 tournaments, nine Super 500 tournaments, eight Super 300 tournaments, and eight Super 100 tournaments.
Accordingly, the Super 100 series will be integrated into the main tournament system for the first time, promising to take it to a new level.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced that the total annual prize money for the World Tour will increase to approximately $26.9 million.
The prize money will be set as follows: $2 million for the Super 1000, $1.1 million for the Super 750, $560,000 for the Super 500, $290,000 for the Super 300, and $140,000 for the Super 100 (up from $110,000).
Of the eight Super 100 tournaments mentioned, the BWF has confirmed the Vietnam Open. This is the only tournament from Vietnam included in the prestigious BWF system.
The BWF's announcement of the first-ever integration of Super 100 tournaments into its main tournament system promises to elevate the status of these events. This is a significant milestone for the Vietnam Open, in the journey of Vietnamese badminton's development.
