Asian scale classical guitar competition
The Saigon International Guitar Festival also has a playground for guitar talents through an Asian-scale classical guitar competition. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese guitarists, especially the younger generation, to improve their abilities through open awareness, a spirit of inquiry and learning from international friends. The judges are famous artists from the country and the world.
Gen Matsuda (Japan)
The competition consists of 5 groups: Open group, ensemble group, under 18 group, amateur group and amateur group under 13. In which, the champion and runner-up of the open group have the opportunity to receive a guitar from artisan Kim Sang Gil (Korea) and TranGuitars (Vietnam). This is the first year that the organizing committee decided to organize an amateur group under 13 years old (who are residing in Vietnam and have never been trained or studied classical guitar at academies or conservatories in the country) to create a playground for young talents to satisfy their passion for the guitar instrument as well as to foster their love of art.
The results of the competitions will be announced at the closing night of the Saigon International Guitar Festival on November 5. The winners, in addition to the prizes, will have the opportunity to perform at the Saigon Guitar Concert Series 2024.
