This activity concretizes Hanoi 's development roadmap as it joins the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, building the Hanoi International Jazz Festival into a unique cultural product of the capital city.

According to Plan No. 192/KH-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi International Jazz Festival is organized to effectively implement Action Program No. 08-CTr/TU dated March 17, 2026, of the Hanoi City Party Committee on implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026, of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture; and to fully concretize the key objectives, tasks, and solutions for developing the cultural industry.
This event also aims to affirm Hanoi's position as the jazz center of the country, a hub for artists, scholars, and professional training institutions. It creates an academic and artistic forum for artists to perform new creative works, especially "Vietnamese Jazz"—a sophisticated blend of traditional national music with contemporary jazz.
This also concretizes Hanoi's development roadmap as it participates in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network; using music to contribute to sustainable socio-economic development, building the Hanoi International Jazz Festival into a unique cultural product, positioning the capital's brand on the international music map, and thereby promoting the image of a dynamic, modern, and inclusive Hanoi that is still rich in cultural traditions.
The event aims to bring contemporary music closer to the people, attracting a large audience, not only young people but also many other demographics, in order to guide aesthetic tastes, enhance artistic appreciation, and enrich the spiritual lives of the people of Hanoi.

The Hanoi International Jazz Festival 2026, directed by the Hanoi People's Committee and organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, has the theme "Hanoi Jazz - Melodies Without Borders".
The event, scheduled to take place from September 17th to 19th, will bring together 5 to 8 international jazz bands along with 3 to 5 prominent domestic bands. The organizers expect the series of activities in these open spaces to attract 1,000 to 4,000 live attendees each night.
According to the plan, the Hanoi International Jazz Festival 2026 will kick off with a press conference in the first week of September. The main festival activities will officially begin on September 17th with the theme "The Beginning Program," featuring the "Jazz & Street" exhibition and the "Jazz Language in Traditional Music" workshop, creating a space for international artists and Vietnamese experts to discuss the blending of jazz and traditional music.
The highlight of the first day was the opening ceremony of the festival, themed "The Sounds of Hanoi Jazz," held at 8 PM at the Music Garden of the Hanoi Opera House, featuring performances from leading national and international artists.
With the theme "Dialogue," September 18th featured three special activities: an international seminar "Hanoi and Jazz," a music night titled "Jazz - Beloved Winter," and the "Jazz Jam Session" program.
The awards ceremony and closing of the festival are scheduled to take place on September 19th, with the theme "Transcendence". In addition, audiences will be able to enjoy unique street jazz performances by young bands in the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake.
At the Hanoi International Jazz Festival 2026, the organizers encourage unique and creative experiments such as the fusion of Jazz with traditional Vietnamese instruments (dan bau, bamboo flute, etc.) or traditional art forms (cheo, cai luong, etc.) and electronic music, in order to form and affirm the distinct identity of "Vietnamese Jazz".
