Simultaneously, participating in the supply chain also helps farmers receive guidance on applying safe production processes such as VietGAP and organic farming, while ensuring their products are purchased by businesses. As a result, rice prices have improved significantly compared to traditional farming methods, contributing to increased income and reduced risks.

“The trust and confidence that farmers have in participating in the supply chain is the motivation for us to do better. In the future, the cooperative will accelerate digitalization to make the supply chain operate even more efficiently,” said Mr. Trinh Van Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Vinh Cuong Agricultural Service Cooperative.
Towards sustainable production and adaptation to climate change.
Ca Mau is actively promoting the development of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation areas, considered a significant breakthrough in restructuring the rice industry. This aims to both increase added value and meet the requirements of green agricultural development. The application of mechanization and modern technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) has helped reduce production costs, increase productivity, and simultaneously reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Mr. Vo Van Vang, Deputy Director of Vinh Loc Raw Material Area, Loc Troi Group, said that participating in the supply chain with cooperatives and farmers in Ca Mau helps the enterprise ensure a stable and large-scale supply, meeting the requirements of demanding markets. At the same time, the enterprise provides a complete package of input materials and transfers scientific and technical knowledge from research institutes and universities, contributing to improving production quality.
Promoting production linkages with consumption along the value chain is an essential direction to enhance the value of rice. Photo: HUU THO
Despite the achievements, the linkage process still faces some limitations such as small-scale and fragmented production; limited investment capacity of farmers; and a lack of large enterprises deeply involved in the value chain. Contract breaches due to price fluctuations still occur; and post-harvest and processing technologies are not yet synchronized, resulting in low added value for products.
In light of this situation, Ca Mau province continues to refine solutions to strengthen and develop the value chain, focusing on improving the operational capacity of cooperatives, attracting businesses to invest in agriculture, and replicating models of high-quality, environmentally friendly rice production.
With clear direction and positive initial results, linking production with consumption is opening up an effective path for Ca Mau's rice industry. This is not only a solution to enhance the value of rice but also a foundation for building a modern, sustainable agriculture that adapts to climate change in the future.
