Manager Arne Slot is said to have just a week to save his job. The next three games against West Ham, Sunderland and Leeds will decide the Dutchman's future. According to The Telegraph, Liverpool cannot afford to let standards fall any further.
British media revealed that Liverpool's board of directors are considering contacting Klopp to temporarily lead the club until the end of the season, if Slot is fired. Klopp is currently the Global Director of Football at Red Bull. Meanwhile, PSG coach Luis Enrique is considered a long-term target.
Coach Slot replaced Klopp in 2024 and won the Premier League in his first season. However, he is under terrible pressure after a series of poor performances.
A 4-1 home defeat to PSV in the Champions League on 27 November marked Liverpool's ninth defeat in 12 games in all competitions, their worst run in 71 years. Slot admitted that with the current squad having spent more than £400m on summer transfers, this run of results was unacceptable.
Liverpool are currently 12th in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal after just 12 games. The next matches against West Ham, Sunderland and Leeds are an opportunity for "The Kop" to end their disappointing run of form and restore confidence at Anfield.
