Construction 'bunkers' cause insecurity and traffic jams on Thang Long Avenue

TPO - Thang Long Avenue heading to the suburbs has been experiencing frequent traffic jams and unsafe urban lanes in recent days. The reason is that the construction site has fenced off the middle of the road and there are no conditions to ensure traffic flow.

At the Thang Long Boulevard service road through Hoai Duc district towards the suburbs, recently, during rush hour, traffic congestion and unsafety continue to occur.

A representative of the Hanoi Traffic Works Maintenance Board informed that the area under construction is digging the road to move the water supply pipeline under the construction permit for the Investment Project to build a different-level intersection between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard.

People living in this Km 8 area said that for nearly a month now, the construction site has been working day and night, with mud on rainy days and dusty smoke on sunny days.

Many regulations on ensuring safety for people participating in traffic seem to be ignored, water and mud still exist on the road every morning.

Steel pipes weighing tons are piled up right on the sidewalk without safety posts or barriers, always at risk of rolling onto the busy road.

The road is being narrowed by more than half by the construction site.

Mr. Phung Truong (An Khanh, Hoai Duc) often has to travel through this road to go to work and said: "The road has been dug up, vehicles only have two small paths on both sides to move, so traffic jams often occur during rush hour."

The gravel layer was laid on a very unsafe and careless road.

Cars and motorbikes jostle to get through the construction area.

A representative of Hanoi Road Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (managing and maintaining traffic infrastructure in the western part of Hanoi) said that the investor of this project is the Hanoi City Civil Works Investment and Construction Project Management Board and the contractor is Viwaseen3 Joint Stock Company. After learning about the incident, the unit inspected the construction work of the project and requested the construction unit to sign a commitment to ensure traffic safety as well as road structure in the coming time.
