The anticipation for Apple's first foldable phone is heating up more than ever as the latest leaks begin to surface.
Recently, the tech YouTube channel Max Tech posted images believed to be a model of Apple's first foldable phone, expected to be called the iPhone Ultra.
Accordingly, the iPhone Ultra's internal display is said to use a 7.8-inch OLED panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio, slightly smaller than the 8.3-inch iPad mini.
According to measurements by channel owner Vadim Yuryev, the phone is 11 mm thick when folded and 5.5 mm when unfolded. Both figures do not account for the additional thickness caused by the protruding camera module. If this is true, the iPhone Ultra would be even thinner than the iPhone Air, which is only 5.64 mm thick.
Regarding the internal screen size, Yuryev placed an open model of the iPhone Ultra along the long edge of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The results showed that the width of the iPhone Ultra was almost the same as the length of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The Max Tech channel owner also compared the iPhone Ultra to the iPad mini, pointing out that the screen, when unfolded, has a similar height but is not as wide as the iPad mini.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to set a new record for the most expensive phone in Apple's history. Specifically, the standard version is predicted to have a starting price of $1,500 (approximately over 40 million VND). Notably, the highest-spec version could reach $3,000 (equivalent to 80 million VND).
According to AppleInsider's analysis, this projected price is entirely reasonable when compared to the cost of producing foldable displays and Apple's market position.
Despite numerous production challenges, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman asserts that the iPhone Ultra will still launch on schedule alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The event is expected to take place in September, with the product being released the following week.
