Recently, Vinamilk has continuously introduced product lines with improved formulas, reducing sugar content while still retaining their distinctive flavors. For example, the company has reduced the sugar content in its yogurt lines: aloe vera (5%), strawberry (7%), and black sticky rice (11%), offering consumers a lighter, more pleasant, and balanced taste.
In the children's product group, Optimum Gold Step 3 - 4 and Optimum Colos Step 3 have had their sugar content slightly reduced; specifically, Optimum Colos Step 3 has been reduced from 2.9% to 2.3%, but still ensures energy and micronutrients meet international standards.
Within the family product line, Necta juices such as orange and peach will have their added sugar content reduced by 25% compared to the old formula in 2025, while the guava flavor will be finalized in March 2026. High-calcium soy milk will also have its sugar content reduced by 14% from 2025, with sales reflecting continued consumer acceptance of the flavor. Through these products and specific data, the company marks the beginning of its journey to reduce sugar content and will continue to lower the sugar content in its products in the future.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri, Marketing Executive Director of Vinamilk, the company's journey to reduce sugar intake stems from an understanding of Vietnamese consumer trends and health needs. "When it comes to reducing sugar, we don't just think about the numbers in the formula. Most importantly, every improvement Vinamilk makes aims to provide a more balanced choice: aligning with healthy living trends and meeting the nutritional needs of modern life," Mr. Tri emphasized.

The sugar reduction roadmap is the result of systematic and continuous research over many years. Vinamilk's research and development (R&D) team continuously tests and evaluates to rebalance the formula, ensuring that even with reduced sugar content, the familiar taste is still preserved.
Simultaneously, the products meet the nutritional standards of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health , while also complying with the international CODEX Alimentarius standard – a system of regulations developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). CODEX Alimentarius is considered a global benchmark for food safety and nutritional value.
Through changes in its sugar reduction strategy, Vinamilk offers consumers more choices, from products with sugar, low-sugar, sugar-free, or specialized lines to meet individual nutritional needs.
A representative from Vinamilk stated that all products are meticulously researched to offer natural flavor and balanced nutrition suitable for various lifestyles. This diversity makes it easy for consumers to choose products that suit them, while also fostering healthier habits and a more proactive approach to daily health care.

Ms. My Phuong (35 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) shared that she always pays attention to the ingredients and nutritional value of each product, wanting products that suit her taste and are good for her health. "Usually, products with moderate sweetness and a lighter, more pleasant taste are preferred by my family," Ms. Phuong said.
Ms. Phuong's priorities are also becoming increasingly common in the community. More and more people are focusing on balancing taste, sugar content, and nutritional value in each product, changing the way they choose food during a time when health is a top priority.
Globally, according to the NielsenIQ 2025 report, 70% of consumers say they are actively managing their health. "Healthy" products are more prioritized than ever, from food and beverages to daily nutritional supplements. One of the most noticeable changes is the trend towards controlling daily sugar intake. Consumers are seeking brands with appropriate sugar levels, helping to balance and maintain stable energy levels.
In parallel with changing consumer trends, food businesses are also proactively reducing sugar content. In the UK, after the implementation of the Soft Drinks Industry Levy in 2018, beverage companies proactively adjusted their formulas, resulting in a 10% reduction in sugar consumption within a single year without impacting sales (according to research by the University of Cambridge, BBC News, 2021).
In the Vietnamese market, Vinamilk has developed a sugar reduction roadmap to realize its philosophy of "continuously raising standards comprehensively," linked to a long-term commitment to supporting Vietnamese people in their pursuit of healthy living. This roadmap has been maintained for many years, and each innovation stems from a deep understanding of consumers' actual needs.
