A series of "Royal" hotels are involved in the "room shortage" incident on Hang Chao Street.

(NLDO)- Many hotels named "Royal" in Hanoi are receiving a series of 1-star reviews, along with negative comments.

Sharing with the press, a representative of Royal Hanoi Hotel (Thanh Tri) said that before the incident, this facility maintained a rating of 4.9/5 stars, but in just the past 24 hours, the score has dropped rapidly.

Many hotels named "Royal" in Hanoi are receiving a series of 1-star reviews.

"When I discovered the incident, I thought it was an unfair competitor. After careful investigation, we found out that many people were confused because our hotel also has the name Royal. Many people thought that we and the hotel at 19 Hang Chao were in the same system," said a hotel representative.

The hotel has been on standby to post related to the incident to explain to netizens about the confusion. The hotel side asserts that it is completely independent, has no connection to the establishment being mentioned on the platforms, and that the mistaken review is seriously affecting the reputation of the business.

Other hotels with the same name were in a similar situation, posting posts asking customers to verify information thoroughly before leaving reviews. In one day, a series of negative reviews for hotels named "Royal" appeared on Google Maps, dragging many hotels' ratings down to around 1.4 stars - a level considered "very poor".

On Facebook, many fanpages were flooded with angry comments and offensive words from users who misunderstood, seriously damaging the image of these establishments even though they were completely "innocent" in the incident.

Previously, the Royal Hostel at 19 Hang Chao Street, Hanoi unilaterally canceled a guest's room because he arrived late, causing public outrage, leading to a wave of 1-star reviews spreading on social networks. The incident not only affected the related facility but also caused many hotels with similar names to be "affected" and had to speak up to correct the situation.

To date, the establishment involved in the incident at Hang Chao has apologized and expressed its desire to refund the guest’s room fee after working with the authorities. After the administrative inspection, the business unit was also found to have committed many violations related to accommodation notification, security and order, and fire prevention and fighting equipment.
