According to the announcement of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), with the support of this organization, the Houthi forces in Yemen on January 25 released about 153 prisoners of war.

The identities of the prisoners were not disclosed, but the ICRC said they had been visited regularly by the organization in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
The ICRC welcomes the Houthis' unilateral release of the prisoners as another positive step towards resuming negotiations to end the protracted war in Yemen.
Previously, on January 23, Houthi released the crew of a cargo ship after 14 months of being captured by the rebel group in the Red Sea.
The 25-man crew of the Galaxy Leader were released by the Houthi forces and handed over to mediators from Oman, including 17 Filipinos, 3 Ukrainians, 2 Bulgarians, 2 Mexicans and 1 Romanian.
The crew had been held hostage since November 2023, when Houthi gunmen used helicopters to raid the Galaxy Leader off the coast of Yemen.
The release of the Galaxy Leader crew comes just days after Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after 15 months of fighting. The Houthis have long said they will only end their campaign in the Red Sea after Israel halts its offensive in Gaza.
