The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) has just issued Document 3970/BVHTTDL-VHDT to Central Committees, Ministries, and Branches; People's Committees of provinces and cities on adjusting the time to organize the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival in Ninh Thuan province in 2024.

Accordingly, due to the complicated developments of rain and floods, implementing the Prime Minister 's Official Dispatch No. 88/CD-TTg dated September 6, 2024 on focusing on emergency response to storm No. 3 and rain and floods after the storm; to focus on flood and storm prevention and overcoming the consequences after storm No. 3, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed with Ninh Thuan province to postpone the Festival to December 2024 (the specific Festival time will be announced later).
Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed with the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province to organize the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival with the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the period of national integration and development".
The festival takes place for 3 days from September 27 to 29, 2024, in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, Ninh Thuan province, with the participation of artisans, artists, actors, mass athletes of Cham ethnic group from 9 provinces and cities: Ninh Thuan, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam , Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the plan, the festival consists of two parts, in which the opening ceremony with the theme "Shining colors of Cham culture" will take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 27 at the 16/4 Monument Square, Phan Rang-Thap Cham city. The program will be broadcast live on VTV8 channel, Vietnam Television; Ninh Thuan Radio and Television Station. The closing ceremony with the theme "Shining colors of Cham culture" will take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 29 also at the 16/4 Monument Square, Phan Rang-Thap Cham city.
The festival includes five main cultural activities: Performance and introduction of festivals and traditional cultural rituals of the Cham ethnic group; exhibition space to introduce and promote cultural and tourism products, the country, people and socio-economic achievements of localities; display and introduction of traditional local cuisine; performance and introduction of traditional brocade weaving and pottery making of the Cham ethnic group; Mass art festival and performance of traditional Cham ethnic costumes.
Also during the festival, a number of supporting programs will take place: Exhibition of Cham ethnic cultural characteristics in the cultural community of Vietnamese ethnic groups; exhibition of art photos on the cultural colors of the Cham ethnic group accompanying the development of the country; exhibition of fine art paintings on Cham ethnic culture.
There are also traditional sports activities including: tug of war, stick pushing, soccer (mini men), volleyball (men), water team (women), cross country (men, women).
The Cham Cultural Festival is an opportunity to honor and introduce the traditional cultural values of the Cham people to domestic and international friends. Thereby, promoting the image of Vietnam as a country rich in cultural identity, with unity and harmony among ethnic groups.
The festival demonstrates the Party and State's concern for the preservation and promotion of Cham cultural values in the process of innovation, integration and development; raising awareness, consciousness and responsibility in building and developing Vietnamese culture to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.
