The reason why many students in Binh Duong cannot attend the opening ceremony of the new school year

On September 5, leaders of Binh Duong province simultaneously visited schools from primary to high school to attend the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025.

Schools have fully organized the opening ceremony rituals such as: welcoming students at the beginning of the school year, saluting the flag, singing the National Anthem (without using tapes with lyrics), reading letters from the General Secretary and President, reading the opening speech (without reading reports on the school's activities) and organizing cultural, artistic and collective sports activities...

FormerPresident Nguyen Minh Triet (second from left) attended the inauguration ceremony and visited Ly Tu Trong Secondary School (Ben Cat City, Binh Duong) before the new school year started.

However, after the opening ceremony, many parents reported to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters that many students were not allowed to attend the school's opening ceremony.

Responding to this issue, the leader of the Binh Duong Department of Education and Training said that the department had previously provided instructions on organizing opening ceremonies for schools at all levels in the province.

According to this guideline, the opening ceremony of the new school year includes a ceremonial part and a festival part suitable to the specific situation of each educational institution and the psychology of students at each level and field of study.

Therefore, most schools with a large number of students only invite students in the first and last grades to participate in the opening ceremony of the new school year, which is appropriate to the specific situation of each school.

The opening ceremony of the new school year was held briefly and received the attention of leaders at all levels in Binh Duong province.

Speaking to reporters, the principal of a secondary school in Binh Duong said that the school has nearly 1,100 students, while the school's facilities (specifically the schoolyard where the opening ceremony is held) can only accommodate about 500 students. Therefore, the school only invited first-year and final-year students and some students representing each grade to attend the opening ceremony.

In addition, another elementary school principal said that in addition to inadequate facilities, students in different grades have morning and afternoon classes, so the school only invited morning students to attend the opening ceremony.

Speaking to Thanh Nien reporter, Ms. Huynh Thi My Ngan, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thuan An City (Binh Duong), said that Thuan An City is the most populous area in Binh Duong province. “On average, each school, at all levels, has from 1,000 to 4,000 students. Meanwhile, the facilities of each school can only accommodate 500 - 600 students to attend the opening ceremony. Therefore, we have to select first and last grade students and student representatives from each grade to participate. We have had to do this for many years,” Ms. Ngan said.
