Before Ly Hai, many Vietnamese celebrities spoke up when they were impersonated and exploited. In March, Dan Truong warned when an advertisement for a milk product line caused a stir. The 7X singer affirmed that "there has never been any contact or invitation to advertise for the above product", and shared: "This is just a false advertisement, using Dan Truong's image to deceive consumers. Everyone, please pay attention, don't be fooled".
Meanwhile, journalist Lai Van Sam also had to speak up because he was impersonated to sell drugs. “I have never and will never advertise for any product or brand. I ask everyone to stay alert and avoid being tricked by scammers,” the MC of the Happy Memories program advised.
According to lawyer Ha Thi Kim Lien (Phan Law Vietnam Law Office - Hanoi Branch), the act of using other people's personal images to create social network accounts to advertise and sell products without their consent is a violation of the law.
When discovering that someone else is using your personal image to impersonate a social network account for any illegal purpose, you can take measures to protect yourself such as: quickly notify and correct to prevent and minimize possible damage; contact a bailiff to make a record of the violation; request the competent state agency to resolve the matter with legal sanctions depending on the nature and severity of the violation.
