In the final match of Group B of the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Thai women's team unexpectedly lost 1-2 to India. This defeat prevented Thailand from qualifying for the 2026 Asian Cup finals and also eliminated their chance to compete for a ticket to the 2027 Women's World Cup.

After the match, Madam Pang wrote a nearly 2,000-word letter of apology to Thai fans. At the beginning of the letter, Madam Pang said: "To all Thai football fans, this is the night that I feel most regretful and disappointed.

As the president of the Football Association of Thailand, I would like to apologize to Thai football fans nationwide because the Thai women's team lost to the Indian national team, causing us to be eliminated and unable to qualify for the next round in Australia next year. This is regrettable. And it means losing hope of participating in the Women's World Cup in Brazil in 2027."

Madam Pang added: "My first assignment in football was as a coach for the Thai women's team 18 years ago and it was successful. I was able to lead the Thai women's team to two World Cups in Canada and France.

But today, as the president of the association and a person who has always loved women's football, I am extremely disappointed with the performance of the Thai women's team tonight. There will be no excuses from the association, from the coaching staff and all the players for this defeat."

Vietnam women's team awarded 600 million VND

On behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation, Vice President Tran Anh Tu and General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu sent their congratulations and commended the impressive achievements of the Vietnamese women's team in qualifying for the final round of the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship with 3 wins and no goals conceded.

To encourage the team's spirit, VFF has decided to award 600 million VND, and hopes that coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will continue to maintain their form, aiming for important tasks this year and the upcoming final round.

Previously on the evening of July 5, the Vietnamese women's team defeated Guam 4-0 in the final match of Group E of the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship qualifiers, thereby winning a ticket to the final round in Australia.
