Malaysia has reinforcements, wearing numberless jerseys to conceal their tactics against Vietnam U22.

Ahead of their crucial match against Vietnam U22 in the final round of Group B of the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games, Malaysia U22 has reinforced its defense with two players.

Specifically, center-back Ubaidullah recently joined the U22 Malaysia team after playing with his club Terengganu against Kuching City in the Malaysia Super League. The 2003-born player possesses a good physique, strong tackling ability, and international experience, playing a crucial role in the U22 Malaysia defense.

In addition, goalkeeper Haziq Mukhriz, from UM Damansara, has also joined the U22 Malaysia squad. Previously, U22 Malaysia only brought 18 players to Thailand for the match against U22 Laos, causing concern for head coach Nafuzi Zain before the crucial match against U22 Vietnam for a place in the next round.

“We don’t have a full squad of 23 players. Some clubs won’t release players because the Super League is still ongoing. Our captain joined the team on match day, and Malaysia only has 18 players for the game against Laos. But even without key players, I still have faith in the players I have,” said coach Nafuzi Zain.

Reportedly, despite having two reinforcements, Malaysia will likely not have their strongest squad for the match against Vietnam U22. Currently, midfielder Aliff Izwan Yuslan's participation is still uncertain due to injury. In addition, winger Haqimi Azim Rosli received bad news as a family member is experiencing health problems.

In their most recent training session, coach Nafuzi Zain primarily focused on defensive drills for the Malaysian U22 players, with a clear objective: to secure one point against Vietnam U22. Notably, the Vietnamese U22 players all wore numberless jerseys, seemingly to conceal their tactics ahead of this crucial match that will determine their qualification for the SEA Games 33 semi-finals.

The match between Vietnam U22 and Malaysia U22 will take place on December 11th.
