Bringing health care opportunities to the disadvantaged

Health insurance policy (HI) is increasingly demonstrating its role as a solid "safety net", accompanying each citizen in protecting health, overcoming risks, and stabilizing life. Implementing the policy of universal health insurance and the spirit of "leaving no one behind" is being concretized by all levels and sectors in the province through many practical and humane activities, in which the granting of health insurance cards to the disadvantaged and those in difficult circumstances is being effectively implemented.

Provincial Social Insurance leaders presented health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances in Nong Trang ward.

At the age of 65, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy in Zone 3, Nong Trang Ward still works hard as a freelancer to earn extra income to support his family. He and his wife are old and their health is declining, while their son is the main breadwinner and is raising two young children. The family of 5 has an unstable income, and monthly expenses must be carefully planned and planned. Therefore, medical examination and treatment costs are always a constant concern for them. Receiving a health insurance card from the health insurance card donation program for households in difficult circumstances at the end of November, Mr. Thuy emotionally shared: “For me, this is not only a health care card, but also the care and warmth of the community for people in difficult circumstances. I have had a tumor on my face and high blood pressure for many years, but because of difficult circumstances and worries about hospital fees, I have not been able to go for examination and treatment. From now on, with a health insurance card, I will have more regular health check-ups.”

Not only Mr. Thuy, 39 people in difficult circumstances in Nong Trang ward have just been sponsored by Sao Viet Phu Tho Joint Stock Company to buy health insurance cards. This is an activity in response to the program "No one is left behind" to implement the policy of "Social insurance (BHXH), BHYT for all people" of the Party and State launched by the provincial Social Insurance. Thereby, to mobilize the participation and companionship of organizations, businesses and philanthropists in social security work. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Tam - Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies in Nong Trang Ward said: "Nong Trang is a densely populated area, currently there are 29 poor households, 28 near-poor households, more than 800 social protection beneficiaries, more than 700 policy families and many families in difficult circumstances. Therefore, social security work is always of interest to the local Party Committee and government. The health insurance cards given to households in difficult circumstances are not only meaningful material gifts, but also a great source of spiritual encouragement for the households, and at the same time help the locality do a good job of social security. In the coming time, the local government will actively promote people to voluntarily participate in health insurance, raising the health insurance coverage rate to 97%, moving towards universal health insurance".

The implementation of the health insurance card donation program shows that each card donated is a hope. It helps the disadvantaged to have more confidence in their treatment journey, helps the elderly living alone, people with chronic diseases reduce the burden of expenses, and helps those who have just escaped poverty not to fall back into poverty due to medical risks. Therefore, expanding health insurance coverage is considered a regular, long-term task with strategic significance. Since the beginning of the year, the provincial Social Insurance has organized many campaigns to mobilize social resources to support people who are still in difficulty and do not have the conditions to participate in health insurance themselves. According to statistics from the provincial Social Insurance, the whole province has mobilized and donated 338 health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances across the province with a total value of more than 300 million VND.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Lien - Deputy Director of the Provincial Social Insurance said: In recent times, many organizations, businesses, and philanthropists have chosen health insurance cards as practical and meaningful gifts to give to people in difficult circumstances. With the humane, humanitarian, and community-sharing meaning of the social insurance and health insurance policies, the health insurance card when given to people in difficult circumstances is not only a material sharing but also a great spiritual encouragement. It is the most practical action to help share with them the burden of medical examination and treatment costs when they are unfortunately sick. More importantly, when participating in social insurance and health insurance, people are participating in the social security network, in addition to having their legal rights and interests guaranteed by the social security fund, they also have the opportunity to share with the community - something that seems impossible for people in difficult circumstances.

To continue to achieve the goal of expanding universal health insurance coverage, along with the health insurance card donation program, the provincial Social Insurance agency determined to continue promoting the role of grassroots forces, increasing propaganda to each residential area, promoting digital transformation, creating maximum convenience for people when participating and using health insurance; at the same time, continuing to mobilize businesses, organizations and individuals to join hands to support the disadvantaged, contributing to building a humane, developed and sustainable social community.
