In July 2018, Cao Nguyen Beef and Dairy Cattle Breeding Joint Stock Company implemented the “Beef and Dairy Cattle Breeding” Project (now known as NutiMilk Dairy Farm) with a total area of 620.74 hectares in Dak Ya Commune, Mang Yang District. Of which, the office and farm area is about 50 hectares, the rest is pasture land for cow feed. Currently, NutiMilk Farm has nearly 12,000 cows. This is one of the largest independent farm clusters in Vietnam that meets European GlobalGAP standards.
Mang Yang District has all the natural elements to help dairy cows grow healthily with a cool climate all year round, clean water sources and clean ingredients. Dairy cows at NutiMilk Farm are cared for and raised in harmony with nature and modern technology to produce fresh, clean milk. On average, each cow produces about 38.5 liters of milk per day.
Mr. Doan Trung Kien - Farm Director - said: Although it has only been put into operation for more than 5 years, after the process of improving technology, barn conditions and especially breeds, the farm has achieved very good results. Milk yield is high, nutritional content meets world standards with 3.5 grams of protein/100 ml.

Talking about the potential for livestock development, especially dairy farming in the area, Chairman of the District People's Committee Le Trong said: Mang Yang has a large area, a cool and temperate climate all year round, which is a favorable condition for developing agricultural and forestry production. In addition, the district has a relatively favorable geographical location with many important traffic routes passing through such as: National Highway 19 connecting the Central Highlands provinces and Quy Nhon Port (Binh Dinh province); Provincial Road 666 passes through 5 communes: Kon Chieng, Kon Thup, Dak Djrang, Lo Pang (Mang Yang district) and Po To (Ia Pa district), connecting National Highway 19 to Truong Son Dong road.
Currently, among the pioneering investors in developing large-scale livestock farming in the district are Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group with a beef cattle farm or Nutifood with the NutiMilk dairy farm. This is a direction that is suitable for the local advantages.
According to Mr. Trong, the NutiMilk dairy farm has contributed to job creation and income generation for local people by converting ineffective crop areas to grass and corn to provide raw materials for the farm.
“Enterprises also need to connect and consume products to encourage people to confidently develop raw material sources for livestock farms. We will create all conditions and accompany investors, enterprises, cooperatives, and business households to develop the district's socio-economy , improve income and life for people,” Mr. Trong added.

On the morning of April 16, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Nien Newspaper organized a seminar on "Building Mang Yang-Gia Lai into a dairy cow paradise". At the seminar, delegates discussed and proposed solutions to turn advantageous locations such as Mang Yang into a dairy cow paradise; develop ecological livestock farm models; policies to attract investment in high-tech livestock farming, create livelihoods for people and contribute to local development.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Luu Trung Nghia - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - said: Gia Lai has the largest area in the Central Highlands and ranks second in the country with 15,510 km2, of which the agricultural land area is more than 845,000 hectares, is a place that converges all conditions of soil, climate, abundant labor resources... to develop livestock, especially large livestock farming.
In 2023, the province's livestock value will reach VND6,420 billion, accounting for 19.13% of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector. Livestock farming in the form of farms and industries accounts for 36.02%. The province has attracted 210 projects in the livestock sector with a total area of over 9,000 hectares and a total investment capital of over VND36,000 billion, of which 92 projects have been granted investment policy decisions by the Provincial People's Committee, and 118 projects are applying for investment policy approval. Currently, 34 projects have come into operation with about 68,700 cows and 350,700 pigs.
On December 30, 2023, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1750/QD-TTg approving the Gia Lai Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, Gia Lai is planned to become an "Ecological, Sports and Health Plateau", a green land, developing ecological economy, circular economy, green economy as the main focus based on 3 development pillars: ecological agriculture, clean and high-tech application.
In particular, developing livestock farming on an industrial scale, closed, applying high technology, proactively preventing and controlling epidemics associated with environmental protection. At the same time, the province identified dairy cows and high-yield beef cattle as the main livestock species, shifting the livestock herd structure towards increasing the proportion of large-scale biosafety and organic livestock farms. In the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province prioritizes implementing high-tech livestock farming projects, including beef and dairy cows.
“Gia Lai in general and Mang Yang district in particular have all the favorable conditions for corporations, enterprises, organizations and individuals to invest in developing large-scale livestock farming, applying high technology associated with preliminary processing, processing, building industrial animal feed factories, factories producing microbial fertilizers from livestock waste... Mang Yang has a favorable location for trade and economic development, is the center of the province in agricultural development associated with processing industry and logistics. Currently, the livestock density in Mang Yang district is about 0.48 livestock units/ha of agricultural land. Therefore, there is still a lot of room for the district to develop livestock farming, which is a favorable condition for expanding the scale of dairy farming,” Mr. Nghia added.
