Immediately after the match, the French striker caused a shock by revealing the content of a private conversation with the Real Madrid manager: "The coach said that I was only the fourth-choice player in the squad, that's why I wasn't starting."
"That's a normal reaction, I'm a player. You have to accept that and give your all for the team," Mbappe added.
After the media reported on Mbappe's interview, coach Arbeloa flatly denied it in a press conference.
He insisted Mbappe had misunderstood his intentions. The Spanish strategist explained that leaving the French striker on the bench for this match was due to fitness issues after his absence from El Clasico: "As long as I'm in this position, I will only bring on the right player regardless of their name."
