Despite retaining its signature boxy shape, the new 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV brings many notable changes, especially the fact that it will only be available as an electric version at launch. The car will be sold in two pure electric variants: GLB 250+ EQ Technology and GLB 350 4Matic EQ Technology. Both use an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery and an 800-volt electrical system. The new 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250+ version uses a rear-wheel-drive electric motor, producing 268 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, allowing for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.4 seconds and a range of up to 630 km after a full charge.
Meanwhile, the GLB 350 4Matic version is equipped with an additional front electric motor, forming a full-time 4-wheel drive system with a total capacity of 349 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, with a range of about 615 km. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed it will add a more affordable EV version next year, along with 48-volt hybrid versions with three different power levels, with the option of front-wheel drive or AWD. The interior of the 2026 GLB is a major technological step forward for Mercedes in the compact SUV segment. The car has the option of Mercedes Superscreen, including: a 10.25-inch digital clock cluster, a 14-inch central screen and a passenger screen of the same size.
The car operates on the 4th generation MBUX platform, integrating AI from Microsoft and Google, the interface is developed using Unity Game Engine, and especially the new MBUX virtual assistant using the ChatGPT-4o platform. The flat control panel, minimizing buttons, brings a modern and technological feel. In terms of exterior design, the new GLB shares the design language with the recently launched CLA and GLC models, featuring a large grille, full-LED headlights with integrated star-shaped positioning lights and horizontal light strips. The rear of the car has also been significantly renewed, inspired by the Vision EQXX concept with vertical taillights connected by LEDs and characteristic starlight graphics. This design makes the GLB 2026 more modern and recognizable, although not necessarily outstanding in terms of aesthetics.
In the German market, the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV 250+ EQ Technology version has a starting price of 59,048 euros (equivalent to 68,700 USD). Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz GLB 350 4Matic EQ Technology starts at 62,178 euros (equivalent to 72,400 USD). Prices for other markets have not yet been officially announced.
