Paredes, who now plays for Boca Juniors, told Infobae that the incident happened when the two were teammates at PSG and the Argentina national team. During a match, Paredes insulted an opposing player, but Messi thought the remark was aimed at him.
“At that time, Messi did not speak to me for about three months. I felt terrible. I texted him the next day, and then again after 15 days, explaining: ‘It was not me who told you, I did not mean to offend.’ But he did not reply. Three months of silence,” Paredes recalled.
The disagreement seemed to last for a long time, but Messi took the initiative to "break the ice" in a very special way.
“One morning we arrived at the training ground at the same time. I arrived early, I was brushing my teeth, and he came in, threw water on me and said, ‘Why are you up so early?’ – and that was it,” Paredes recalls with a laugh.
