Many young people in Ho Chi Minh City have quickly registered to try out metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) for free.
Before officially running on December 22, 200 trains on metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will be tested every day to evaluate the technical system, train performance, coordination between operating departments and smoothness in handling real-life situations.
During the final test run of the metro, Ho Chi Minh City residents were able to register to experience it, starting from Ben Thanh Station (District 1). Becoming the first passengers of the modern public transport, many young women happily checked in, recording memorable memories with the metro line that has been under construction for more than a decade.
To pass through the control gate, passengers use magnetic cards. In the photo is the automatic ticket vending system equipped at the stations.
When officially operating, tickets will cost from 6,000 to 20,000 VND/trip depending on the route distance and payment method. A 1-day ticket is 40,000 VND/person, a 3-day ticket is 90,000 VND. A monthly ticket is 300,000 VND, with students getting a half discount. 

Metro train No. 1 consists of 3 cars with a capacity of 930 passengers (147 seated and 783 standing), with equipment to support the disabled, priority seats for pregnant women and the elderly...
The interior of the train cars is painted mainly blue. Emergency systems and fire extinguishers are also equipped on board.
Station maps and destinations are displayed on the door map boards and LED panels in the middle of the train.
Metro line 1 is nearly 20km long, passing through 11 elevated stations and 3 underground stations.

All 3 underground stations (Ben Thanh, City Theater, Ba Son) have been completed, ready for the day the train goes into commercial operation. These stations are divided into many areas such as: ticket sales and adjustment room, security monitoring, station staff working area, restroom area... Notably, there is also a medical support room.
The Urban Railway Management Board said that the unit and HURC1 are working together with consultants and contractors to urgently complete the remaining procedures to be eligible for acceptance of the entire project, putting Metro No. 1 into commercial operation on December 22. During the first month, passengers will be able to ride the metro for free. This is to encourage people to experience and get acquainted with the new means of public transport.
Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien is the first urban railway line of Ho Chi Minh City, playing a role in connecting the city center with the eastern gateway, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and promoting socio -economic development.
