At exactly 10am on December 22, metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will officially roll out its first train to serve the people of Ho Chi Minh City after 12 years of construction.
The above information was shared by the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) at the city's socio -economic press conference this afternoon (December 19).
Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) is a radial route, running from Thu Duc City area through Binh Thanh District to the center of District 1.
According to MAUR representative, when exploited, it will help Ho Chi Minh City traffic reduce pressure on vehicles, congestion, and reduce pressure on bus routes on the same route.
During the first 6 months of operation, metro line 1 will pick up passengers from 5am to 10pm. Trains will run every 8-12 minutes. On the first day of operation, the line will start at 10am.
After 6 months, the route will open from 5:00 to 23:30. Trains will run at regular intervals of 5-10-15 minutes/trip (corresponding to the time frames: peak/normal/off-peak).
According to MAUR, during the first month of operation, people will be given free tickets to take metro line 1. After that, passengers will buy tickets at the price of 40,000 VND/person/ticket/day, with no limit on the number of trips per day. The price of a 3-day ticket is 90,000 VND.
Monthly ticket price: 300,000 VND/person/ticket/month; students: 150,000 VND (50% discount).
The fare for cash payment is from 7,000-20,000 VND depending on the route; the fare for non-cash payment is from 6,000-19,000 VND depending on the route.
Metro Line 1 accepts payment for fares in cash, coins, and domestic and foreign bank cards. Passengers can also use their existing bank cards or pay via Apple Pay/Google Pay/Samsung Pay to take the train.
Regarding the plan to enhance connectivity and passenger transfer by bus, the City Public Transport Management Center has completed it.
Accordingly, there are 17 bus routes connecting to metro stations No. 1. During the first 30 days of commercial operation, passengers will travel by bus for free.
At stations such as Van Thanh Park, Thao Dien, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, Suoi Tien Bus Station, etc., parking lots are arranged to facilitate metro passengers.
