Since appointing Carrick as head coach to replace Ruben Amorim on January 13th, MU has won 11 out of 16 matches under his management.
Thanks to this impressive run of results, MU achieved their goal of qualifying for the Champions League next season, and Michael Carrick has scored big points with the Red Devils' management.
Two powerful figures at Old Trafford, CEO Omar Berrada and Director of Football Jason Wilcox, have nominated Carrick for the long-term manager position.

Manchester United's official website confirmed: "Manchester United are pleased to announce that Michael Carrick will continue as head coach of the men's football team, having signed a new contract that runs until 2028. "
For his part, Carrick said: "From the day I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United. Taking on the responsibility of leading this special club makes me incredibly proud."
Throughout the years, this group of players has proven they can meet the standards of resilience, team spirit, and determination that we demand here.
Now it's time for us to move forward together, with clear ambitions and goals. MU and our amazing fans deserve to compete for major titles..."
Michael Carrick joined Old Trafford from Tottenham in 2006. He spent 15 and a half years with the club as a player, manager, and then interim manager.

When Carrick began his interim tenure, MU were in sixth place, but he and his colleagues helped the team finish third in the Premier League, securing a spot in the Champions League the following season.
MU are reportedly in contact with several candidates, including Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth), Julian Nagelsmann (Germany national team), and Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace).
However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Red Devils' management decided that Michael Carrick was the best fit for the future at Old Trafford.
