North cool, no rain

Thanh Hoa - Thua Thien Hue

Scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places; heavy to very heavy rain in the afternoon and evening in the South. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature 21-24 degrees; highest 28-31 degrees.

Da Nang to Binh Thuan

Scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places; showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening in the North, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature 24-27 degrees; highest 31-34 degrees, some places above 34 degrees.

Central Highlands

There will be showers and thunderstorms in some places; in the North, there will be heavy to very heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Southern Vietnam

Showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.

Hanoi

Rain in some places. Lowest temperature 21-23 degrees; highest 26-28 degrees.

Heat wave returns to the North and Central regions next week

The last two days of the weekend in the North and Central regions will be cool, from the beginning of next week these areas will have widespread heat.

Explaining the 'record' heat, each 'volcano' lasts 5-7 days

The peak of the heat wave is forecasted to be in June-July in the North, and June-August in the Central region. Each heat wave will last longer, with 5-7 days. Notably, due to El Nino, the number and intensity of storms this year will be less.

Nghe An breaks heat record with 44.2 degrees

On May 7, in Tuong Duong (Nghe An), the highest temperature measured was 44.2 degrees, surpassing yesterday's new record of 44.1 degrees set by Hoi Xuan (Thanh Hoa).
