According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this afternoon (January 23), the Northern and North Central regions experienced severe cold; the Central Central region experienced cold weather, with some areas in the North experiencing severe cold; and in some places in the northern mountainous regions, frost appeared.
During the night of January 23 and 24, the cold air will continue to strongly affect other places in the South Central region. Northeast wind inland will be strong at level 3, coastal areas at level 4-5, gusting to level 6.
According to the meteorological agency, on January 23-24, the lowest temperatures in the above areas all reached the coldest peak as forecast. Specifically, in the North, it was generally 8-10 degrees, in the mountainous areas of the North, it was 3-6 degrees, in the high mountains, it was below 0 degrees; in the North Central region, it was 9-11 degrees; in the Central Central region, it was 12-15 degrees, and in the South, it was 16-19 degrees.
In particular, since yesterday afternoon (January 22), frost has appeared at the top of Phja Oac ( Cao Bang ) and Mau Son (Lang Son). And today, at the top of Mau Son, the frost continues to be thicker, accompanied by strong winds and rain that make the cold cut like cutting skin. In addition, at Dong Pagoda, Yen Tu (Quang Ninh), the trees are also covered in white.
The meteorological agency noted that the widespread cold spell in the North and North Central regions may last until around January 28; in Nghe An and Ha Tinh , it may last until January 24; snow and frost may continue to occur in mountainous areas.
From the night of January 23-24, the area from Quang Tri to Binh Dinh will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas having heavy rain. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
In addition, in the forecast and warning bulletin on land weather trends for a period of 10 days (from the night of January 23 to February 2), the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the North and North Central regions from January 26 to 29, there will be scattered rain and showers. Therefore, from the night of January 25 to 28, the weather will be very cold; in the North and Thanh Hoa, on the night of January 25 to 26, there will be severe cold. In the Central Central region from the night of January 25 to 28, there will be scattered rain; in the North, it will be cold.
The meteorological agency warns that cold weather can affect people's health; cold weather accompanied by rain can affect sightseeing, tourism activities, and the safety of vehicles participating in traffic. Cold weather also affects livestock and poultry; and greatly affects the growth and development of crops.
