A strong cold air mass is about to sweep down to the North and Central regions, possibly causing frost in the northern mountainous areas and widespread heavy rain from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, with the risk of severe cold and localized flooding.

On the afternoon of November 12, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting informed that the cold air in the North of the continent continued to weaken and weaken to the South. At Bach Long Vi station, there was strong Northeast wind at level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of weakly strengthened cold air combined with high-altitude divergence, from November 13 to 15, in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, there will be little cloud at night and sunny days.

The lowest temperature in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will drop sharply, generally in the range of 16-18 degrees Celsius, in the Northern mountainous region, some places will be below 13 degrees Celsius. It will be cold at night and early morning, and very cold in the high mountains.

On the evening of the same day, a representative of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) said that through monitoring and analyzing the current state of the weather system and forecast products, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting assessed that from November 16 to 22, the North and Central regions are likely to be affected by a strong cold air mass, causing frost in the Northern highlands and heavy rain in the Central region.

Due to the influence of strong cold air, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) has strong northeast wind at level 7, in some places level 8, gusting to level 9-10; waves 3-5m high. The Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast wind at level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9; waves 2.5-3.5m high.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecasting Department (National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting) also warned that due to strong cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, from the night of November 15, in the area from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, there is a possibility of a large-scale heavy rain, lasting for many days, in which, the heavy to very heavy rain is concentrated in the area from Hue City to Da Nang City, the eastern part of the provinces: Quang Ngai, Gia Lai.
