According to the Northern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, from this evening, May 16th, Hanoi is likely to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms due to the influence of a cold front combined with upper-level wind convergence. During thunderstorms, people should be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Meanwhile, the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting stated that on May 16th, Hanoi would still experience localized heatwaves, with a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. In the afternoon and evening of the same day, the northern region would have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall exceeding 70mm.

From May 17th, the heatwave in Hanoi and Northern Vietnam will end, and the weather will become milder due to widespread rain. According to the meteorological agency, rain in Hanoi may increase from the beginning of next week.

The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will continue to experience hot weather on May 16th and 17th, with temperatures generally ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in some places. From May 18th onwards, the widespread heatwave in Central Vietnam will also end.

Localized thunderstorms (in a limited area) occurred in the Central Highlands, Southern Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City. Some places recorded heavy rainfall, such as Huong Lam (Lam Dong) with nearly 149mm, Ta Lai (Dong Nai) with over 92mm, and Ha Bang ( Dak Lak ) with over 83mm.
