The 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee has just announced an important decision to increase the reach of the largest sports event in Southeast Asia by opening the opening ceremony and team competitions completely free of charge for the public. This is a move jointly implemented by the Thai Government, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), demonstrating the desire to make the SEA Games a community event instead of just for ticket-buying spectators.

Mr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Director General of SAT, said that the opening ceremony taking place on the evening of December 9 at Rajamangala National Stadium will welcome more than 20,000 spectators. The ticket allocation structure is arranged to create wide access for all classes in society. Specifically, 10,000 seats are reserved for the public, 5,000 seats are given priority to students and those in difficult circumstances.

The rest belongs to VIP guests, members of the organizing committee and volunteers serving the congress. Opening the gate for free not only helps the audience access easily but also hopes to create a vibrant, emotional atmosphere for a SEA Games that aims to connect and share.

The SAT Governor also emphasized that this year's opening ceremony was elaborately invested with many artistic performances imbued with Thai identity, modern light shows and a parade of 11 sports delegations. With the scale of Rajamangala Stadium and the expected large audience density, security and coordination work has been mobilized at a high level to ensure safety for the entire event.

The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20, bringing together 11 Southeast Asian countries, competing in 66 sports and sub-sports with a total of 585 events. This is considered one of the SEA Games with the largest number of sports in history, in which Thailand aims to organize traditional sports alongside modern sports, meeting the general development trend of the region.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation is expected to attend the Games with more than 1,000 members, including athletes, coaches, doctors, medical staff and team leaders. Vietnam will compete in 45 out of 66 sports and sub-sports.

Of these, 40 sports are on the list of sports that the State spends budget to participate in, and 5 sports are socialized including: Billiards, Figure Skating, Esports, Baseball & Softball and MMA. The expansion of the number of socialized sports shows the diverse development of the sports movement, while also providing opportunities for new sports to access the regional arena.

With the active preparation of the host country and the spirit of aiming for a friendly and open congress, the 33rd SEA Games is expected to become a special highlight in the journey of developing Southeast Asian sports.
