Central Highlands activates response plan for new heavy rains

The Central Highlands provinces are making every effort to overcome the consequences of historic floods and at the same time activating plans to respond to the new heavy rains.

In Dak Lak , Mr. Ta Anh Tuan - Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has just signed an official dispatch requesting the Provincial Civil Defense Command, departments, branches, and leaders of communes and wards to proactively deploy response plans to the tropical depression near the East Sea and heavy rain in the province.

Accordingly, from November 28 to 30, Dak Lak province is expected to experience widespread heavy rains; the heaviest rain will be concentrated in the eastern communes and wards.

This situation is taking place in the context that Dak Lak is focusing all its efforts on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, floods, and inundations, in order to restore production and stabilize people's lives after the "historic" storm. Many residential areas in Dak Lak are still isolated and difficult to access.

By November 25, the floodwaters had receded very deeply, most localities had been "liberated" from the fierce flood, but there were still some neighborhoods and residential areas in Hoa Xuan commune, the East of Dak Lak province, still surrounded by floodwaters, the government and volunteer groups had to use canoes to reach them.

On November 25, Gia Lai province just raised the damage of the historic flood to 1,500 billion VND after some localities and units updated the damage. Currently, the province is still partially flooded on some overflow roads in Quy Nhon Bac ward, An Nhon Nam ward, Tuy Phuoc Dong commune, Tuy Phuoc Bac commune, Tuy Phuoc commune.

Faced with the situation of considerable damage and increasingly complicated weather developments, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province also issued telegram No. 20/CD-UBND on focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods and proactively responding to natural disasters in the coming time.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested localities and units to maintain readiness of forces and means to respond to the next natural disasters, first of all, the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm; strengthen the overcoming of consequences of natural disasters; fully implement the support policies of the Central Government and the province for people affected by natural disasters.
