On May 21st, the leaders of A Lưới 1 commune ( Hue City) confirmed that functional units had safely handled a bomb discovered by local residents.
Previously, the NPA multi-tasking team of the Norwegian People's Aid in Vietnam received a report from local residents about the discovery of an object suspected to be a bomb while clearing a road for acacia and eucalyptus logging in the forest.

The discovery site is located in a 2-hectare mangrove forest, planted over 5 years ago and preparing for harvest. The bomb was buried about 1.2 meters underground, only becoming visible after machinery leveled the land to create a road.
Upon arriving at the scene, NPA forces identified it as an MK82 bomb – a powerful air force bomb left over from the war. The bomb was approximately 1.7 meters long and weighed hundreds of kilograms.
Upon technical inspection, the fuse at the front of the bomb was found to be broken, and the fuse was missing from the rear.
The bomb was then transported to the NPA's centralized demolition site in Trung Thanh area, Phong Dinh ward, Hue City, for storage and to develop a demolition plan in accordance with regulations.
It is known that the mountainous A Lưới region was heavily affected by war, so many unexploded ordnance are often discovered during production, reforestation, road construction, or the construction of public works.
