Attending the workshop were Mr. Le Luong Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Giap commune and households participating in the model.
In 2025, BB Green Food Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company will build a commercial Monopterus (Zuiew 1793) eel farming model in mud-free tanks supplemented with herbal feed in the old Hai Duong province at 03 households in Nguyen Giap commune, with 48,000 eel fry. Before implementation, households were trained in technical processes from input water treatment, mud-free tank operation to herbal feed mixing.
After 8 After months of raising, the model recorded many positive results: eels grew well, especially in the summer, weight increased from 0.44 - 0.47 grams/fish/day, survival rate reached from 87.49 - 88.47%, much higher than traditional models; productivity reached from 34.65 - 39.6 kg/m²; amount of feed consumed was 1,065 kg, feed conversion ratio (FCR) was only from 1.79 - 2.05 kg of feed/kg of eel, feed cost to increase from 23,174 - 26,549 VND/kg of eel, in which the formula adding 3% herbs gave the highest efficiency.
Adding herbs to the diet helps eels increase their resistance, reduce stress when reared at high density, limit the use of antibiotics, and reduce feed costs. During the rearing process, the pilot tanks also recorded very few disease outbreaks, showing that the model operates stably and safely.
The model of raising eels in mud-free tanks with added herbs is a suitable direction for local conditions, bringing high economic efficiency and the ability to replicate. The model not only helps increase people's income, but also contributes to the development of the aquaculture industry in Nguyen Giap commune in a safe, effective and sustainable direction.
