Initial “highlights”

Riding an electric car through the roads named after flowers; visiting orchards, flower gardens, agricultural farms; leisurely checking in among the colorful fruit fields; enjoying local specialties and listening to historical stories at relics... are the activities that tourists will experience when coming to Hong Van commune, Thuong Tin district today.

The ornamental plant craft village tourist destination in Hong Van commune is one of two OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program) in rural tourism in Hanoi. Taking advantage of the Red River bank, in recent years, Hong Van has become an attractive ecological and agricultural tourist destination in Hanoi. The commune currently has 21 main roads, each road is planted with a type of flower, the road names are named after those flowers, such as: Hoang Yen road, Bang Lang road, Hoa Ban road, Phuong Vi road...

Secretary of the Party Committee of Hong Van Commune Nguyen Hai Dang shared that the commune has nearly 20 eco-tourism models combining experiential services with green tourism and agricultural tourism. “Every year, the number of tourists visiting Hong Van Commune is from 15,000 to 20,000, helping to maintain and create stable jobs for hundreds of workers with an income of 6 to 8 million VND/person/month,” Secretary Nguyen Hai Dang informed.

Similarly, in Dan Phuong district, many ecological agricultural models along the river have been formed and are gradually becoming tourist destinations for Hanoi visitors. Typical examples are the models of growing Black Summer grapes and Korean milk grapes in Phuong Dinh commune, Dan Phuong, Trung Chau, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Ky (Dan Phuong commune), owner of Ha Den grape garden, shared that this grape variety has high economic value; along with growing grapes for sale, his family also combines sightseeing, experiential tourism and selling products in the garden. Since the beginning of the year, the garden has welcomed nearly 200 visitors to visit, take photos and learn about the model.

Not only the grape growing model combined with tourism, Dan Phuong also has many eco-tourism and agricultural tourism models that have attracted visitors in recent times. Vice Chairman of Dan Phuong District People's Committee Nguyen Thach Hung informed that according to the planning, the village clusters along the Red River (Trung Chau, Hong Ha, Tho An, Tho Xuan communes) and along the Day River (Song Phuong, Dong Thap, Phuong Dinh communes) will continue to practice traditional agriculture combined with developing eco-tourism. The villages outside the dike will gradually move into the resettlement area inside the dike...

Currently, Hanoi has two rural tourism OCOP products: Hong Van rural tourism service site, Hong Van commune, Thuong Tin district and Phu Dong Green Park eco-tourism area, Phu Dong commune, Gia Lam district. In addition, the City People's Committee has also recognized 7 tourist destinations in the suburban areas, associated with agricultural, rural, craft village and ecological tourism.

Take advantage

Sharing his views on Hanoi's agricultural development, the Vice President of the National Economics University (representative of the consortium consulting on the capital's planning) affirmed that Hanoi's agriculture must be different from other localities, so it is necessary to orient the development of urban agricultural models, high technology, experiential agriculture combined with eco-tourism... In particular, closely following the advantages of rivers and riverside communes is very important.

Specifically, the Red River section flowing through Hanoi with a length of about 100km, through many years of alluvial deposits, has created many alluvial and mid-sand banks... which are strengths for building ecological agricultural models associated with tourism. In addition to the Red River, Hanoi also has many rivers flowing through such as the Day River, Nhue River, Tich River...

Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee Bui Van Sang said that the Day River running through Thanh Oai District is about 17km long, with 9 communes located in the riverbank area; the total natural area of the riverbank area is 721ha. In the socio-economic development orientation for the period 2021-2025, Thanh Oai has determined to develop the area along the Day River into an eco-tourism space, forming a waterway tourism route on the Day River.

According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ta Van Tuong, the agricultural sector is orienting the coastal areas of the Red River, Day River, Duong River... with a natural area of about 29.4 thousand hectares to focus on developing food legumes, safe vegetables, fruit trees and concentrated livestock farming in the direction of farms associated with protecting Hanoi's green belt.

Regarding this issue, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized that Hanoi will issue a plan to develop agricultural and rural tourism associated with new rural construction in the city for the period 2021-2025; policies to attract businesses to invest in developing agricultural and rural tourism...

The Hanoi Department of Tourism also drafted a plan to develop the agricultural and rural economy associated with new rural construction in the city for the 2021-2025 period, in order to create favorable conditions to promote the development of agricultural tourism.
