Capital and human resource support

After merging with Bac Kan , Thai Nguyen province has opened up a new development space, with an area of 837 thousand hectares, a population of over 1.7 million people, and 92 commune-level administrative units; with favorable natural conditions, the new Thai Nguyen province possesses a rich resource system, including fertile land, abundant water resources and diverse ecosystems, creating favorable conditions for the development of agricultural production in the province.

Farm-scale livestock farming is developing rapidly, gradually replacing small-scale livestock farming in households. The total herd of buffalo and cows in the province is currently 135 thousand; pigs 888 thousand; poultry 20 million. The whole province has over 1,679 livestock farms; 183 of which are VietGAHP certified.

According to Mr. Do Dinh Trung - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thai Nguyen province), besides the investment of large livestock enterprises and corporations, Thai Nguyen province highly encourages high-tech livestock models from young people with entrepreneurial aspirations.

Mr. Trung commented that capital and human resources are two important factors in starting a high-tech livestock business.

Thai Nguyen province has issued resolutions on investment and development of high-tech agriculture associated with the OCOP program and key products. From there, many state resources have been mobilized and socialized to support young production units. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has also advised the Provincial People's Committee to hold conferences connecting businesses and farms,” said Mr. Trung.

In addition, Thai Nguyen province is researching and coordinating with institutes and schools to open training centers and transfer livestock technology. From there, it will prepare young, high-quality human resources for sustainable development in the livestock sector.

Proposal to support the construction of slaughterhouses and expansion of farm land funds

As a new unit participating in the livestock product processing stage, Nga My Cattle Breeding and Agricultural Production Services Cooperative (Phu Binh Commune) has launched to the market processed product lines including dried beef, beef sausage, pork sausage, beef ham, pork ham, beef meatballs, pork meatballs, and grilled sausage.

Notably, the products of the Cooperative have been granted food safety certificates; have full product labels, codes, barcodes to trace the origin of the products... Thanks to that, in 2024, the Cooperative has 3 products including beef ham, pork ham and beef jerky recognized by the People's Committee of Phu Binh district as 3-star OCOP.

Not only investing in factories and modern processing lines, the cooperative also pays great attention to product distribution and promotion. However, the cooperative is facing difficulties with slaughterhouses due to lack of capital and resources.

“In order to ensure disease safety, we hope that all levels will create favorable conditions and support for the cooperative to build a slaughterhouse that meets standards. From there, we can proactively complete the entire closed production process, supplying the market with high-quality products,” Mr. Duong Van Hong - Nga My Cattle Breeding and Agricultural Production Services Cooperative suggested.

Meanwhile, Mr. Au Xuan Huu - owner of a 10,000-chicken white chicken farm in Nam Hoa commune hopes that the Thai Nguyen Department of Agriculture and Environment and local authorities will have policies to support the expansion of livestock land funds so that start-up farms can increase their livestock scale, thereby increasing profits.

In order to promote the application of science and technology in agricultural production, in the coming time, Thai Nguyen will continue to increase investment and socialize scientific and technological research activities in livestock farming in the direction of combining basic research with applied research. At the same time, apply a system of standards and technical regulations in the management and control of agricultural product quality in accordance with international practices and meet the needs of domestic and export markets.
