This is the first visit of the head of the Kingdom of Jordan to Vietnam and the first exchange of delegations at the head of state between the two countries. This is also the first visit of a Middle Eastern head of state to Vietnam in nine years. The official visit of King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein demonstrates the special importance of the Kingdom of Jordan to the good friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the role and position of Vietnam in the region and the world .

The Kingdom of Jordan is a constitutional monarchy in the Middle East, with a stable political and social situation. Despite some economic difficulties, Jordan is making efforts to implement its “Economic Modernization Vision”, aiming to double its GDP to 82 billion USD by 2033. To realize this vision, Jordan aims to increase exports, attract investment, reform administration, etc.

In terms of foreign policy, Jordan has good relations with the West and Arab countries, supports the Palestine-Israel peace treaty and is the second country, after Egypt, to sign a peace agreement with Israel, and plays an important role as a bridge and humanitarian aid provider in the region. Jordan's foreign policy is built on the principles of regional stability, international cooperation, and maintaining good relations with countries in and outside the region. Jordan is an active member of many international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank (WB), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Arab League (AL), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), etc.

Establishing bilateral relations on August 9, 1980, Vietnam and Jordan have friendly relations and great potential for cooperation. In terms of economy and trade, two-way trade turnover in 2024 reached more than 188 million USD, of which Vietnam exported 95%, mainly agricultural products, aquatic products, electronic products, consumer goods and imported mainly textile products, fertilizers, and chemicals. In terms of investment, by the end of September 2025, Jordan had five valid investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of 1 million USD, ranking 109th out of 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

The official visit to Vietnam by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong, offers an opportunity to further deepen and effectively promote the Vietnam-Jordan relationship, marking a historic milestone in the relationship between the two countries, opening a new phase of cooperation, creating a premise to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Through the visit, Jordan also wishes to strengthen relations with Vietnam in all fields, contributing to the implementation of Jordan's economic modernization vision in the context of many Middle Eastern countries promoting relations with Vietnam.

The solemn reception of the King of Jordan on his official visit to Vietnam is a step to continue implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations, proactive and active comprehensive and deep international integration in the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress; affirming Vietnam's policy of wanting to promote relations and share development experiences with Arab countries in general and Jordan in particular; being ready to further deepen political trust, supporting the implementation of each country's independent and self-reliant foreign policy and creating a foundation for cooperation in the field of economic development; strengthening coordination and support between Vietnam and Jordan at multilateral and regional forums, especially at the United Nations; exchanging regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Wishing King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein's official visit to Vietnam a great success, opening new doors of cooperation for the relationship between Vietnam and Jordan.
