According to information from the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the target applicants are those who have graduated from high school or completed equivalent recognized programs as per regulations.
In addition, those who have graduated from a vocational school in a relevant field and completed the required high school-level cultural education are also eligible to apply.
General requirements include meeting the entrance requirements, ensuring good health for studying, and completing the application form according to the school's instructions.
In 2026, the University of Foreign Languages will apply multiple admission methods. Besides direct admission according to the regulations of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training , candidates can apply based on their high school graduation exam results, a combination of exam results and international foreign language certificates, or the results of the aptitude test organized by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The deadline for submitting supporting documents for some methods is expected to be from June 1st to 15th, 2026, in accordance with the general schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training.
One notable point is the regulation regarding the foreign language subject in the admission scoring. Accordingly, the score for this subject, including the converted score from certificates, is multiplied by a factor of 2. The total admission score is converted to a 30-point scale, ensuring consistency across all methods. This calculation method reflects the specific training characteristics of an educational institution specializing in foreign languages, while also creating differentiation in the selection process.

The admission process is conducted transparently, based on results from highest to lowest until all quotas are filled. Candidates are considered in the order of their registered preferences, and there is a mechanism for handling cases of ties in scores at the end of the list.
For direct admission, the supplementary criteria include the ranking of awards and the academic performance in foreign languages during the three years of high school. For admission using high school graduation exam scores, the priority order is determined by the bonus points and the order of preferences.
The announcement also noted that candidates admitted directly must still register their preferences on the general admissions system to have their results officially recognized. Confirmation of enrollment must be completed within the specified timeframe; otherwise, it will be considered a refusal of enrollment. The school will also conduct a post-examination review of the application to ensure that candidates fully meet the requirements.
Regarding priority policies, bonus points and regional/subject-specific priority points are applied according to current regulations. The total bonus and priority points do not exceed 3 points on a 30-point scale. Regional priority points range from 0 to 0.75 points, and subject-specific priority points range from 1 to 2 points. The method of calculating priority points for high-scoring candidates is adjusted according to general regulations to ensure fairness in the admissions process.
Regarding training programs, the school continues to enroll students in language-related programs such as English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean, alongside other fields such as Russian, Arabic, Vietnamese studies, and programs related to culture and transnational media.
In addition to their main degree program, students can enroll in a second program at member institutions of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, provided they meet the academic requirements. The range of study programs has expanded to include fields such as journalism, law, tourism management, psychology, and international studies. This mechanism provides students with more options in developing their career paths.

Another point mentioned was the consideration of supporting students with disabilities. Based on an assessment of their academic abilities and practical circumstances, the school may facilitate their application and enrollment in suitable programs.
Besides the training content, information about job opportunities is also of great interest to many candidates. According to data from the university, the rate of students finding employment shortly after graduation in some foreign language majors is quite high, reflecting the stable demand for human resources in this field.
In a job market that increasingly values language skills and the ability to adapt to an international environment, choosing to study foreign languages is considered a practical path. However, the effectiveness of training depends heavily on the learner's proactive approach in accumulating knowledge and experience, rather than solely relying on pre-existing training programs.
