With the attention and direction of the Party Committees and authorities of Mong Cai City (Vietnam) and Fangcheng District (China), on August 26, 2014, Po Hen Village (Vietnam) and Than San Village (China) held a signing ceremony for the residential cluster agreement on both sides of the border. After 10 years of implementing the 6 contents of the agreement, the 2 villages have achieved many important results.
The two sides have organized 82 phone calls to congratulate, visit and encourage each other on holidays, New Year, funerals, and joys; supported and helped each other with experience in economic development, building a prosperous and beautiful locality; together maintained public hygiene, cleaned up, did not throw garbage on the border riverbanks, protected the ecological environment, helped each other overcome the consequences of natural disasters, prevented floods and storms, conducted rescue and relief; effectively prevented epidemics that occurred to people, livestock and crops. Organized 14 cultural and artistic exchanges, physical education and sports, and ethnic games; regularly organized activities to visit, exchange culture and arts to congratulate each other on the occasions of National Day, traditional New Year, and traditional festivals of each country.
After 10 years of implementing the model of "Twinning residential clusters on both sides of the border" between Vietnam and China, it has become a very unique and meaningful people's diplomacy activity...
In addition, Mong Cai City also maintains good communication activities, exchanges and talks to create "strategic trust" with the other side. Most recently, on August 13, 2024, in Mong Cai City, a meeting and work exchange took place between the delegation of Mong Cai City (Vietnam) and the delegation of Dongxing City (China).
The two sides discussed issues related to promoting trade activities through pairs of border gates and openings in Mong Cai City and Dong Hung City; issues related to the construction of cross-border works (iron bridge at Km3+4 Hai Yen area) to connect traffic infrastructure, gradually upgrading to main border gates, international border gates... which are very important factors for the development of trade and import-export activities of the two countries Vietnam - China and the two localities of Mong Cai - Dong Hung; construction of Bac Luan III bridge to connect traffic infrastructure to gradually open Bac Luan III border gate; discussed issues related to the connection of Vietnam - China international railway (Mong Cai - Dong Hung)...
In recent times, the expansion and improvement of the effectiveness of Mong Cai City's foreign relations have contributed to building a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and developing border area. The city always focuses on promoting foreign affairs activities, closely combining economy, defense, security with foreign affairs, creating a position of intertwined interests, clearly improving efficiency; coordinating with the Party Committee and authorities of Dongxing City and Fangcheng District (China) to strengthen foreign relations, comprehensive cooperation in all fields in accordance with the spirit of the Vietnam - China Joint Statement and having many initiatives in implementing the signed agreements of the two countries, of the province and the city with the provinces and cities of China.
Mong Cai City has organized to welcome international delegations to visit and work in a solemn and effective manner; maintained traditional congratulatory activities on the occasion of holidays and New Year in the two localities. Organized many talks with Dong Hung City and Fangcheng District (China) to promptly resolve arising problems, especially those related to border works, cooperation, facilitating the development of import-export, cross-border tourism; provided support in urgent situations (natural disaster prevention, search and rescue; disease prevention...) .
Promote exchange activities, twinning, joint patrol coordination, border protection, combating cross-border crimes, improving the effectiveness of twinning models of stations, villages, safe areas, guard posts, sports exchanges, etc.
Efforts to build a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and developing border area are helping Mong Cai City become a safe location, a reliable destination, creating a peaceful and healthy environment, and favorable conditions for businesses and people in the border areas of the two countries to develop trade, tourism and foreign affairs.
