A doctor becomes vice president of a major university.

(Dan Tri) - A typical doctor in the field of dentistry, author of more than 100 scientific works, became vice principal of a university in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University has just signed a decision to temporarily appoint Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Anh Vu Thuy, Head of the Faculty of Dentistry, to hold the position of Vice Rector of the University of Health Sciences .

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Anh Vu Thuy was born in 1974 in Binh Thuan (now Lam Dong province).

He graduated as a Doctor of Dentistry from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2000, successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Dentistry at Tokyo University of Medicine and Dentistry, Japan in 2011 and was recognized as Associate Professor in 2018.

In addition to formal training programs, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Anh Vu Thuy completed the Inter-University Certificate (Diplôme Inter-Universitaire – DIU) in implant surgery, periodontics and prosthodontics granted by the University of Bordeaux (France) in 2013.

He also attended advanced training courses at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) and Yonsei University (Korea) in oral pathology, periodontology and dental implant surgery. In addition, he is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of Odonto-Stomatology.

Before being appointed Vice Rector, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Anh Vu Thuy held many management positions at the University of Health Sciences such as Head of Postgraduate Training Department, Head of Training Department, Head of Faculty of Dentistry.

During his career, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Anh Vu Thuy was the head and participated in many research projects at all levels, and was the author of more than 100 scientific works, of which more than half were published in peer-reviewed international journals.

He was awarded many certificates of merit and titles by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Training and Ho Chi Minh City National University, such as "Outstanding Teacher at the Ministry level" in 2022, "Effectively applied initiative, scope of influence at the Ministry level" in 2023.

Previously, last April, the University of Health Sciences also appointed Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Thanh Toan, Deputy Director of Thong Nhat Hospital, as Vice Rector.

The University of Health Sciences is the 8th member university of Ho Chi Minh City National University, established in June 2024 on the basis of developing the medical faculty of this university. Currently, the school has 7 functional departments, 5 faculties and 3 affiliated centers.
