Launched in October 2022, the contest, organized by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Vietnam Writers' Association, quickly received widespread response. Over the past three years, the Organizing Committee has coordinated to organize three writing camps in Quang Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Ninh Binh - lands rich in revolutionary traditions. Here, writers have direct access to reality, meet officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security, listen to everyday stories that leave deep impressions and inspiration. As a result, 140 manuscripts in two main genres, novels and memoirs, were sent back, demonstrating the deep concern of writers for the People's Public Security force.

The judges noted that the entries this time vividly portrayed current and hot issues of social life; clearly depicted silent feats, fierce struggles with criminals, and touching stories about the sacrifices and dedication of police officers in everyday life. What makes the People's Police officers rise above and win trust and respect is their final choice.
The police officer, after all the struggles and struggles, chose the spirit of dedication to the community. That was not an easy choice and decision. That decision was the result of a process of awareness, of training, of practice and above all, it was a command from the heart of each individual police officer - most of the works participating in the contest converged on that common point.
The author has tried to reflect not only the mission, duties, work, and responsibilities, but also the depth of the soul of the People's Public Security soldier. And that is a signal that the People's Public Security soldier is moving towards becoming one of the central characters because therein lies the beauty of dedication to the peaceful life of the people, to the sustainable security of the Fatherland.
Writer Nguyen Binh Phuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association and Chairman of the Final Jury, commented: “The quality of this contest is relatively high, especially in the novel genre. Many works have made a strong impression, moving readers, surpassing the boundaries of writing to approach the authenticity and vividness of reality.”

It can be seen that through five editions, the short story and memoir contest on the theme “For the security of the Fatherland and a peaceful life” has contributed to shaping a sustainable flow of writing on the theme of security and the silent, persistent contributions of the People's Public Security force. Not only stopping at the scope of the Public Security sector, the contest has contributed to enriching the face of contemporary Vietnamese literature. Many young authors have boldly approached this difficult topic, expressing new thinking, modern language, and a close, emotional writing style. Many writers have considered the contest as an opportunity to return to their profession, to write with all their hearts, with gratitude for those who are living and fighting in everyday life.
“ The quality of this competition is relatively high, especially in the novel genre. Many works have made a strong impression, moving readers, surpassing the boundaries of writing to approach the authenticity and vividness of reality . ”
Writer Nguyen Binh Phuong, Vice President of Vietnam Writers Association, Chairman of the Final Round Council
Many entries in the contest vividly reflect current issues and non-traditional security challenges, from high-tech crimes to silent dangers in social life. Thereby, literature is no longer a product of imagination, but becomes a bridge between reality and belief, between writers and readers, between art and social responsibility.
The political and humanistic significance of the contest lies in the fact that the literary works not only touch hearts, but also educate the younger generation about patriotism and community responsibility. In a complex world context, where security is no longer an abstract concept, the works are a reminder of the value of peace – something we sometimes only realize when it is threatened. Literature, therefore, has become an effective propaganda channel, strengthening people's trust in the armed forces, in the Party and State's policies.
The fifth competition of short stories and articles on the topic “For national security and peaceful life” has ended, but the mission of writers on “For national security and peaceful life” continues to unfold. The Organizing Committee hopes that the excellent works coming out of the competition will continue to spread, arousing in the public a sense of responsibility towards society.
