An industry that has not had anyone recognized as a professor for 7 years

(Dan Tri) - The State Council of Professors has considered the titles of professor and associate professor in 2025, including 10 fields where no one has achieved the title of professor and 1 special field where there has been no new professor for 7 years.

The fields that do not have any candidates for the title of professor in 2025 include: Mechanics, Earth Sciences - Mining, Law, Linguistics, Agriculture - Forestry, History - Archaeology - Ethnology/Anthropology, Irrigation, Culture - Arts - Sports, Literature and Architecture.

Notably, the Literature Department has only one candidate for associate professor, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tam, Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The Architecture Department also only has 3 candidates for associate professorship considered: Ms. Le Quynh Chi, Ms. Tran Thi Khanh Thuong and Mr. Nguyen Viet Huy. All three are lecturers at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Huy said that in the 7 years from 2019 to 2025, the whole country only has 11 associate professors in the field of Architecture - Planning, no professors are recognized.

Besides, most of the professors in this field were born before 1955 and have retired.

The two majors with the largest number of candidates considered by the State Council of Professors for the title of professor and associate professor this year are Economics (134 people) and Medicine (114 people).

Medicine is also the field with the most candidates recognized as professors with 14 people.

Compared with the list of proposals from the Industry and Interdisciplinary Professor Councils, this year there are 11 candidates who are not qualified to be approved at the State Professor Council level.

Among them are 3 candidates from the Medical field, 1 candidate from the Economics field, 1 candidate from the Educational Science field, 1 candidate from the interdisciplinary Mechanical - Dynamics field, 1 candidate from the interdisciplinary Animal Husbandry - Veterinary - Aquaculture field, 1 candidate from the Linguistics field, 2 candidates from the Philosophy - Political Science - Sociology field.
