With comprehensive development in economic, cultural and social aspects, in 2024, Thong Nhat commune (Gia Loc) was recognized by the People's Committee of Hai Duong province as one of the first 10 typical communes of the province.
Coming to Thong Nhat commune (Gia Loc, Hai Duong), the first impression is of the wide, clean roads and alleys, and the spacious houses. This is possible thanks to the leadership and direction of the authorities at all levels and the consensus and support of the people in the commune.
Although she is a single-parent household, her main income comes from agriculture , and her old house is still usable, when Khay village widened the road from 4m to 6m, Ms. Vu Thi Can (57 years old) was willing to demolish her house and donate 1m of width and over 15m of length to make the road straight and beautiful.
"My new house is 25 square meters wide, the construction cost 60 million VND, most of which was contributed by family members. I think donating land for road construction is everyone's responsibility, so when I was persuaded, I immediately agreed," said Ms. Can.
The new house of Ms. Vu Thi Can in Khay village, Thong Nhat commune (Gia Loc, Hai Duong) was rebuilt after she donated land to build a road.
Along with donating land for road construction, the movement to maintain security and order, and fire prevention and fighting has also been unanimously implemented by the people. Currently, the commune has built 3 model points on security and order including: "Team to protect security and order of the national historical relic site of Duoi Temple", "Residential area safe for fire prevention and fighting", model of installing security cameras at key locations on commune and village roads. In particular, in 2024, the model "Team to protect security and order of the national historical relic site of Duoi Temple" was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a typical model of self-prevention, self-management, and self-protection of security and order in the province.
Mr. Nguyen Van Soai, Head of the "Security and Order Protection Team of the National Historical Relic of Duoi Temple" said: "Regardless of day or night, we arrange forces to patrol and guard around the temple area as well as in the village on a voluntary basis. Combined with reports from the people, we have discovered a number of cases of illegal drug use, violations of fire prevention and fighting, theft of tourists when visiting the temple... contributing to ensuring security and order in the locality".
To achieve the above results, the People's Committee of Thong Nhat commune has its own ways of doing things. The important and decisive thing is the closeness of the grassroots cadres and party members to the implementation of the movements.
Thong Nhat Commune installed many cameras on traffic routes and public places to ensure safety, security and order.
Mr. Vu Van Chan, Vice Chairman of Thong Nhat Commune People's Committee shared: "When implementing work in the locality, we always assign people and tasks clearly and regularly go to the grassroots to grasp the situation to promptly resolve problems. Thanks to that, the implementation movements are all highly effective, ensuring the set progress."
Thong Nhat Commune People's Committee also uses the results of each movement as a criterion for evaluating the year-end emulation results. From there, each cadre and party member in the commune has their own way of doing things to perform well the tasks and work of the unit and individual.
Mr. Vu Xuan Hung, Secretary of Khay Village Party Cell, said that when Khay Village expanded the main road, the village held a meeting to ask for people's opinions. Everyone was able to express their wishes and thoughts, so the road construction went smoothly. For families who had to rebuild the surrounding wall, gate, etc., if necessary, the village would mobilize forces to support labor days.
During the road construction process, commune leaders and village officials also regularly grasped the situation and promptly resolved difficulties. "Thanks to the close supervision of the government and the consensus of the people, the roads in Khay village are all large and beautiful. Not only did they donate land, some families also donated 40-50 million VND to build roads, install cameras and lighting. Village roads and alleys are always clean and safe," Mr. Hung affirmed.
Many roads in the villages of Thong Nhat commune are large, beautiful and clean.
Over the past years, with financial support from the State, people in the commune have contributed more than 31 billion VND, thousands of working days and donated over 1,800 square meters of residential land to expand and upgrade roads, build pond embankments...
In 2024, the average income per capita in the commune will reach 90.67 million VND/person, 10.67 million VND higher than the average income of the district; the poverty rate will be 0.77%, 0.07% lower than the average of the district...
Based on the achieved results, in the coming time, the commune will continue to implement solutions to improve the quality of criteria so that the material and spiritual life of the people will be further improved, worthy of being a typical commune in the province.
