MU freed up Rashford's salary up to 300,000 pounds/week.

The two clubs have agreed a preliminary deal, taking Rashford to his dream destination, a move that is believed to please owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, as the club look to cut costs to support the rebuilding process under coach Ruben Amorim.

According to The Times , Barcelona agreed to pay the English striker's entire £300,000-a-week salary. In addition, the Catalan club also attached a clause to buy Rashford at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Rashford's departure is expected to save MU around £17 million a year, helping to reduce the wage bill which is already the highest in the Premier League - more than £171 million/year. Casemiro currently has the highest income with £350,000/week, while Bruno Fernandes is second with £300,000/week.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, but the club did not activate their £40m buyout clause. The 27-year-old himself has also been reluctant to join Villa as he wants to play in the Champions League - something Barca can provide.

According to Spanish sources, coach Hansi Flick directly contacted Rashford to convince him to join. Barca prioritized pursuing Luis Diaz from Liverpool, but failed. Therefore, they turned to Rashford.
