In Chau Pha commune, many vegetable fields were submerged, with estimated average damage per sao reaching 40-50 million VND.
In Ho Tram commune, hundreds of hectares of newly sown rice were also heavily flooded due to the impact of flood discharge from Song Hoa lake and heavy rain.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhung, Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Ho Tram Commune, said: “Currently, the rice is in milk and flowering. If it is flooded for just a few hours, the whole crop will be lost.”

Faced with the above situation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is directing localities to urgently count the damage, compile reports to have timely support measures.
It is forecasted that in the coming days, the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to have heavy rain. Authorities advise people to proactively prevent flooding, protect agricultural production, and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
